“Dogs have given us their absolute all. We are the center of their universe. We are the focus of their love and faith and trust. They serve us in return for scraps. It is without a doubt the best deal man has ever made.” – Roger Caras
There is no question for those of us who have had the privilege of having a dog, that they are a constant source of love, hilarity, peace, comfort, and joy.
They seem to sense our moods, and they respond appropriately. They are the greatest of companions, and they truly become our best friends.
(If you’ve ever had one, then you know the absolute heartbreak that comes when they leave you and this life behind).
On a mission to make the bond between man and dog even stronger, biomedical engineers and Orthopaedic experts at Consortia Development Inc. have engineered the EPEC Disc Launcher and EPEC Dog Disc, in hopes that everyone – regardless of fitness or skill level – can make a disc fly perfectly to their best friend.
These Discs are the result of high tech design combined with a love of the outdoors. And of course, playing fetch with your best furry friend.
Flexible, dog-tough, and dog safe,” the disc launcher provides hours of exercise and enjoyment for your pup while also ensuring you don’t suffer any undue stress on your shoulder, elbow, or wrist.
Ken Johannaber, the VP of Engineering and Quality at Consortia Development and one of the inventors of the disc, said that when it came to branding, the product proved challenging to match with an effective labeling technology.
“The disc design and disc material were engineered for durability and for flight – not for printing/logos, unfortunately. The material turned out to be too soft for most other printing techniques. As a result, Polyfuze worked hard to find a graphics solution that would work well for us. The graphics are awesome looking, but they also stand up to abuse. Something we definitely need,” Ken said.
Because these discs are being handled, used, and carried by dogs, they are made of an FDA-grade, dog-safe elastomer that is soft and flexible, while still being tough. Polyfuze technology delivered on this important factor, as the labels exceed the standards of FDA requirements, while also being fully recyclable.
When asked what his favorite part about creating this product has been, he said it’s the stories and feedback they get from customers who use it.
“I think there is something about watching a disc float through the air that people (and their dogs!) really love. Being able to exercise your dog quickly – and have fun doing it – has been awesome for a lot of people. Even if you don’t have a dog who likes to play fetch, the disc launcher is also a fun way to play disc golf, or bring it to parties, beach-trips, and holiday events. My friends and family always bring their dogs, and they love it.”
EPEC Disc Sports is committed to providing fun, innovative, American-made products for people who love their dogs. In utilizing Polyfuze labeling technology, they have ensured their brand will never diminish from the products that they make.
No matter what kind of plastic product you create, using a labeling technology that will ensure your brand identity will last for the life of your product, (or in this case, withstand the hours of enjoyment of your dog and the elements), will set you apart from the other products on the shelf, help expand your marketshare, and can be a powerful way to help your customers connect with you.
