Most reusable containers, crates, totes, or pallets are made from high-density polyethylene plastic (HDPE). This plastic is chosen specifically for its superior performance including puncture resistance, chemical resistance during sanitization or pressure washing procedures, and long service life.

However, the performance properties that make HDPE such a versatile material for reusable packaging also make it problematic for common “adhesion-based” labeling methods (pressure-sensitive adhesive, in-mold, hot stamp foil, heat transfer, silkscreen, pad printing, and more) that are intended to be on the product for life use.

Polymer Fusion is the science of merging two separate low surface energy plastic polymers together (polyolefin label + polyolefin component) utilizing melting point, time, and pressure, which produces a singular piece of plastic without the use of adhesives, tie-layers, bonding agents, or secondary surface treatments.

The result is permanent labeling for Reusable Crates, Totes, Containers, RTI’s (Returnable Transit Items), Pallets and Dunnage, Recycling Containers, and other Reusable Packaging that cannot be lifted, separated, or removed for the life-use of reusable packaging, an industry that requires anything from track/traceable labeling to anti-counterfeit/authentication, warning and safety, and even branding.

Where adhesion and other labeling methods continue to fail and  create problems costing time and money, Polymer Fusion Labels were engineered specifically for 100% compatibility and 100% recyclability with all polyolefin thermoplastics. They have been proven to exceed performance and durability standards no matter the use or environment reusable packaging may be exposed to.
