Snowplows Facing Extreme Weather With Polyfuze

Gemini Plastics continues to provide the same high-quality solutions, but instead of hand-manufacturing parts, they accomplish it through CNC Machining, CNC Routing, injection molding, and vacuum forming services, beginning from product conception and design, all the way to final execution.

They discovered Fusion Labeling Technology for low surface energy plastics when a customer was seeking a reliable technology to permanently brand their image on the face of their plastic snowplow product.

Initially using adhesive stickers, they found the stickers seemed cost effective up front, but realized that the result was anything but cost efficient. Consistently failing stickers meant a significant loss of labor, money, and time, with no brand recognition to show for it. Furthermore, the sticker often failed in parking lots or snowbanks, leaving behind litter that hurt the environment.

Snowplows face extreme weather conditions and the blades are subjected to repeated abuse, which means typical labeling technologies such as adhesive stickers, won’t be able to hold up to the conditions. They are comprised of a multi-layer construction and are attempting to “bond” to the surface of the plastic.

The problem is that plastic is a low surface energy material, which means that its very properties which make it so durable, sturdy, and able to withstand extreme temperatures, conditions, and usage for years to come, is the same reason that labels themselves eventually fade, peel, fall off, and become impossible to read. 

Fusion Labeling Technology is different from every other labeling technology out there because they’re 100% compatible and made from the exact same olefin-based material that the plastic part itself is made of. Once the fusion process is complete, the two polyolefin materials have combined to form one finished piece of seamless and flush polyolefin plastic with no change in durability or structural integrity.

The Polyfuze Fusion Label becomes just as durable and sturdy as the plastic part itself, able to withstand every harsh environment including extreme temperature fluctuations, such as in frigid temperatures, chemical contact, and more.
