The iMIG Graphic sample you receive in the mail will look just like this. As stated above, the sample has been crosshatched to demonstrate just how durable it is. We ask that you take that one sample and do a battery of tests to it. Then come back and do the ASTM D3359-09 tape test after you’ve abused it. We know it’ll pass!
The ASTM D3359-09 test method covers procedures for assessing the adhesion of coating films to substrates by applying and removing pressure-sensitive tape over cuts made in the film, or in this case, the iMIG graphic material after it has been applied. The iMIG graphic consistently scores a 5A in this area.
After removal of the tape, the grading scale is as follows:
5A – No peeling or removal
4A – Trace peeling or removal along incisions or at their intersection
3A – Jagged removal along incisions up to 1.6mm (1/16in.) on either side
2A – Jagged removal along most of incisions up to 3.2mm (1/8in.) on either side
1A – Removal beyond the area of the incisions
